Impact of Current Harmonic Injection on Performance of Multi-Phase Synchronous Reluctance Machines

This paper combines the use of multi-phase configurations and current harmonic injection methods to achieve significantly improved performance for doubly salient synchronous reluctance machines (DS-SRMs). In order understand torque production mechanism DS-SRMs with injection, some general analytical models have been developed. The are based on Fourier Series analysis self- mutual-inductances. It has established that ripple both 5-phase 6-phase can be reduced average enhanced. contrast, always a detrimental impact 4-phase machines. investigations losses dynamic machine also carried out demonstrated proposed method improve efficiency in constant region maintain comparable fundamental supply flux weakening region. Experimental validation single layer, 6-phase, DS-SRM performed.
